HOW TO USE THE FAMILY TREE CHECKLIST BOOK

To use the Family Tree Checklist book to its best advantage follow the steps outlined below:

  1. For each country there is a list of valuable family history resources.
  2. Generally, the type of resource is listed first and then, directly after, the source of information is listed as an abbreviation. For example: Electoral Rolls – SAG, SA, LL
"Electoral Rolls" is the type of resource and "SAG", "SA" and "LL" are all abbreviations for the sources of this information.
  3. To find out what the abbreviations stand for, simply consult the "List of Abbreviations".
  4. Often you will find the addresses for these sources of information at the end of each country’s section, under "USEFUL ADDRESSES".
  5. Some records are available at multiple locations so there is no need to consult all sources. For example, to search the "Electoral Rolls" (Australian) you may only need to refer to one of the three sources of this information ("SAG", or "SA" or "LL").
  6. When you have looked at a particular resource, tick the little box to its right hand side and note down which source of information you have consulted.
  7. The right hand side page is provided as "notes" so that any interesting information, dates, names or little clues can be jotted down for future reference.
  8. This process can also be used when consulting the "USEFUL WEBSITES" that are also listed for most countries.
